Using various substances to get high or drunk is nothing new in the history of homo sapiens. Obtaining a different state of mind has been popular in many cultures, all over the world. It is interesting why the subject is such a huge tabu in our western society! Are we ashamed of it? Why does not the history teacher mention the magic mushrooms(and fly-agaric) with a single sentence, while talking about the vikings, although most of the fights were won because of using drugs during the battle...The jetfighter pilots that bomb people in poor Middleast countries are often high on amfetamin. That will propably also not be mentioned in tomorrows schoolbooks...Those who control the present, also control the past... In most countries alocohol, coffee, tea, tobacco and prozacs are freely accepted drugs, while others are prohibited. There are many things that does not make sence considering drugs...

VIKINGENES SOPP(MIS)BRUK / THE VIKINGS (AB)USE OF MUSHROOMS
|
 |
Vikings used fly-agaric to produce their berserk. They took the mushrooms so that the effect came on during the heat of battle or while at work. During the berserk rage they performed deeds which otherwise were impossible. The rage started with shivering, chattering of the teeth, and a chill. Their faces became swollen and changed color. A great rage developed in which they howled like wild animals and cut down anyone in their way, friend or foe alike. Afterward their mind became dulled and feeble for several days. In 1123 AD a law was passed making anyone going berserk liable for several years in jail. It was not heard of since. However, there is a similarity between the berserk Vikings and todays jet pilots high on speed (amphetamine). They both seek and destroy in a fearles way...
